Today marks 20 years since the official opening of the Lower Light Rifle Range in 2003.
The first shoot comprised the 2003 Queens event and Paul Salamon won the trifecta of Hunt, Queens and Grand Aggregate.
The on-range accommodation consisted of some of the old army Nissen huts which were transported from the Dean Rifle Range at Port Adelaide.
The cantilever target design for the manually-marked targets was a vast improvement over the old up-and-down targets on the Dean Range which were weighted with lumps of concrete.
Looking back at the photos from 2003, you can see how much effort went into the building of the range prior to the 2003 opening, and in the 20 years since to develop and improve the facilities. On behalf of all the current members who benefit from the Lower Light Rifle Range, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the establishing and development of the range over the last 20 years and here's to the next 20 years!
