The National Sporter & F Standard Championships 2026 will be held at Wellsford Rifle Range, Bendigo, Victoria, hosted by the Victorian Rifle Association over the weekend of 31 October–1 November 2026.

 

Dates and program

  • Saturday 31 October 2026 – Short Range Championship
  • Sunday 1 November 2026 – Long Range Championship

 

Venue and host

  • Wellsford Rifle Range, Bendigo, VIC
  • Hosted by the Victorian Rifle Association under NRAA Standard Shooting Rules (SSR’s)

 

Event details

  • Saturday: Short Range Championship – 2 sighters and 10 shots at 500, 500, 600, 600 yards
  • Sunday: Long Range Championship – 2 sighters and 10 shots at 900, 900, 1000, 1000 yards

 

Awards and checks

  • Awards include range medals, daily aggregate medals and NRC badges
  • Equipment and ammunition checks will be conducted, with NRAA SSR’s applying throughout the championships

 

Disciplines

  • F Standard A (FSA), F Standard B (FSB), Sporter (SP) and F Standard Open (SO) as per VRA/NRAA classifications

Light River Rifle Club Rimfire & Centrefire Challenge

 

Join Light River Rifle Club at Lower Light Rifle Range on Sunday 1 November 2026 for a day of rimfire and centrefire shooting. Held on the first Sunday of every month, the event welcomes all visitors.

  • Date: Sunday 1 November 2026

  • Venue: Lower Light Rifle Range

  • Rimfire competition: 9:00am sharp — $20 entry.

  • Centrefire sight-in: From 9:00am — $50 for unlimited shots at 100m, including two free H2 targets per shooter.

  • Sporter Centrefire competition: Starts after lunch — $20 entry.

  • Competitors must supply their own ammunition.

Rimfire Challenge

Production Class (PC) and Production Class Open (PCO) rimfire rifles may be used, with targets at approximately 100 metres. .22 Magnum, .17 HMR and other permitted calibres compete in their own class.

Course of fire:

  • Sighting: Five minutes for unlimited sighters on the sighting target. After a short break, the Range Officer will signal the start of the scoring round.

  • Rounds 1 and 2: Five minutes per round, with 25 scoring shots per round and five shots at each aiming mark.

  • Scoring: Maximum 250 points per round.

  • Sighters are permitted.

Sporter Centrefire

Starting after lunch, Sporter Centrefire will be held under similar conditions to the rimfire event, with 20 scoring shots using the same type of target. Entry is $20.

  • Class 1: Production rifle using factory ammunition.

  • Class 2: Custom rifle, calibre no greater than 8mm.

Centrefire sight-in

A morning centrefire sight-in option is also available, starting at 9:00am. For $50, shooters can take unlimited shots at 100 m to prepare for the afternoon shoot, with two free H2 targets included for every shooter.

Join us at Lower Light for the Match Rifle Championship on 7–8 November 2026, featuring Match Rifle and Long Range F-Class (FO and FTR) over 900m, 1000m and 1100m. Practice is available on Friday 6 November, followed by a separate Bisley Match on Monday 9 November.

Match Rifle Championship 2026

Join us at Lower Light for a weekend of long-range competition, with Match Rifle and Long Range F-Class (FO and FTR) over 900m, 1000m and 1100m.

Friday 6 November — Practice

  • Practice from 1pm.

  • Practice fee: $10.

Saturday 7 November — Championship

  • Arrive at 8:30am for an approximately 9am start.

  • Distances: 900m, 1000m and 1100m.

  • 3 sighters and 15 scoring shots at each distance.

Sunday 8 November — Championship

  • 900m and 1000m: 2 sighters and 15 scoring shots at each distance.

  • 1100m: 2 sighters and 20 scoring shots.

Monday 9 November — Bisley Match

The Bisley Match is separate to the championship.

  • Distances: 900m, 1000m and 1100m.

  • 2 sighters and 15 scoring shots at each distance.

Entry, accommodation and food

  • Entry fee: $90.

  • Twin-share rooms: $35 per night.

  • Bunk rooms: $20 per night.

  • Caravans: $10 per night.

14–15 November 2026 | Lower Light Rifle Range

East takes on West for a weekend of team shooting and friendly rivalry at Lower Light!

The proposed competition will bring together teams of 20 shooters across TR, F Open, F Standard and Sporter, supported by four coaches per team.

Proposed program

  • Saturday: Starting at 12 pm — 500 m and 600 m

  • Sunday: 700 m and 800 m, finishing early afternoon

  • Format: 2 sighters + 10 counting shots at each distance

Come along, represent your area and enjoy a traditional inter-area contest with fellow SARA members.

Celebrate the festive season at the Yunta Rifle Club Christmas Shoot on Saturday 5 December 2026.

  • Date: Saturday 5 December 2026

  • Time: 9.00 am start

  • Location: Yunta Rifle Club

  • Entry: $40, including lunch

  • Program: Three 10-shot matches — two at 500m and one at 300m

  • Time permitting: Pairs Match, with mixed disciplines allowed

The Yunta ‘Legends’ Shield will be awarded to the top TR shooter, with shields also awarded to the top F Standard, F Open and Sporting Class – Open shooters. No muzzle brakes permitted.

🛏️ Meals and accommodation

Make a weekend of it, with meals available from Friday evening and the bar open from 3.00 pm Friday. Camping is available at the range, with accommodation also available at nearby shearers’ quarters or the Yunta Hotel.
