The South Australian Rifle Association is proud to wish our Open and Under 25 National Target Rifle Teams every success as they prepare to represent South Australia at the 2026 National Target Rifle Open and Under 25 Teams Matches at Belmont this August.
Both squads have demonstrated exceptional commitment throughout their preparation, with recent practice performances highlighting the depth of talent, teamwork and determination within the teams.
The Open Team produced some outstanding scores, including 2 x 50.10s, 3 x 50.9s and several 50.8s. The standard of shooting at 300 yards was particularly impressive, with two occasions where an entire squad on a target went clean. Across the full team, only two points were dropped on those targets, while three shooters went clean and two dropped only one point across the practice.
Our Under 25 Team also showed tremendous promise, recording an impressive 11 possibles. The squad includes our youngest team member, who is just 13 years old—an encouraging reflection of the strong future of Target Rifle shooting in South Australia.
SARA congratulates every shooter selected to represent the state, along with the team officials and support personnel assisting with preparation, management and travel. Representing South Australia at a national championship is a significant achievement, and we are proud of the professionalism, sportsmanship and team spirit shown by both squads.
We wish all team members and officials safe travels, good shooting and an enjoyable, successful campaign at Belmont.
